Ficus Brown Turkey
Ficus Brown Turkey
Ficus carica ‘Brown Turkey’ *(AGM)
Fig Tree
A deciduous shrub with lovely architectural, lobed leaves. Edible, sweet figs may be produced in autumn. Perfect choice for growing in a sunny sheltered courtyard against a wall for support. Fig trees are also a good choice for growing in a large pot and can be trained against a wall or grown as an open tree.
Grow in moist free-draining soil in a sunny position. Figs grow and fruit better when the roots are restricted so it is advisable to lay rubble in the base of the planting hole and line the sides with large paving slabs. This variety is hardy through most of the UK but may require some protection during very harsh winters. Prune in March to required size & shape.
Native to: Mediterranean Plant
Eventual Height 4m x 4m
NB: This plant will loose its leaves in winter!
*AGM plants are plants that have been awarded the Award of Garden Merit (AGM) by the Royal Horticultural Society.
