Aeonium arboreum 'Schwarzkopf

'Schwarzkopf' is a particularly striking Aeonium that bears rich purple, almost black, leaves. The new leaves are green in the centre of the rosette. The overall colour will turn darker when in full sun. It is an erect, sub-shrub succulent that produces spectacular large panicles of bright yellow flowers in late spring.

Aeoniums are evergreen succulents that bear neat rosettes of fleshy leaves on branching stems. In frost prone areas grow as a house plant or in a glasshouse/conservatory. In warmer climates grow in a gravel or well-drained rock garden. They are ideal as container plants that can be brought inside during the winter months if necessary. 

Grow in moderately fertile soil, well drained in full sun or partial shade.

Please note that during the winter months this aeonium will green up due to low light levels. However it will darken up again for the spring and summer/autumn.
