Camellia Tricolor
Camellia Tricolor
Camellia japonica 'Tricolor' *(AGM)
As its name suggests this variety is full of surprises! The intriguing semi-double flowers are white with stripes of soft rose to blood-red along the length of the petals. It is a most variable cultivar and can produce background colour from white through the pale shades of pink. The number of petals can also vary, occasionally producing single blooms alongside the predominantly semi-double flowers.
It forms a dense spreading bush with bright green leaves that are coarsely serrate and slightly twisted at the centre giving a holly-like appearance. A truly fascinating variety and a real talking point over the garden fence.
*Award of Garden Merit (AGM) is awarded by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS); the plant performs reliably in normal garden conditions.
